Sandy is the granddaughter of Mary and Tony, the central figures in The Brutal Truth: Surviving in a Mobster’s World. In this book Sandy gave her Grandma a voice to tell her story. She chose the pen name “LA Moglié” meaning the Wife in Italian, as it’s Grandma’s story told by the wife of the Mobster.

Sandy is the sole authority on this emotional story, having listened to her grandmother’s firsthand accounts over many years. Her deep dive into family history uncovered evidence that confirmed those stories, including a heartbreaking article that detailed the horrific abuse Mary and her children suffered at the hands of Tony. This discovery was a pivotal moment that started Sandy on a journey to discover the truth and tell her grandmother’s story.
After five years of meticulous research, Sandy crafted this narrative, drawing from Mary’s firsthand accounts and corroborating them with extensive archival research, including historical newspaper articles and public records. It was a constant “Holy Cow” moment with everything she learned about who her Grandfather was and the despicable things he did, especially towards his family.
Sandy’s professional career spans 22 years in the legal field, followed by 20 years as an independent Internet Developer and Graphics Design contractor, having authored multiple websites, utilizing her computer science degree. Now retired, Sandy continues to channel her passion for writing into various projects. She has published a sports periodical for the San Francisco Giants, created football programs, a commemorative picture book and managed a website for her son’s high school football team. In her retirement, she has authored several ancestry books and a family-only cookbook. Sandy is a proud mother of three and a grandmother of three.
